Paisley, St. Mirin's Cathedral This instrument was originally constructed by Messrs Peter Conacher & Co., in 1902. For Stepps Parish Church near Glasgow. The organ was installed by ourselves in 1982 following a Church closure. The opportunity was taken then to update the tonal specification and erect the instrument on both sides of the West Window. Towards the end of last year, the Cathedral was painted and major building work carried out on the Chancel. The organ suffered rather badly through the accumulation of concrete dust which settled like a fine layer of snow over the pipework. Concrete dust is abrasive by nature and we have dismantled the instrument to allow for a thorough cleaning to be carried out, before there is any serious wear or damage in the mechanism. The work will take Two Months to complete. |
